Due to the light being controlled by all six channels when you enable the light through the SpectraSuite wizard, you will not be able to get all six channels set up with the standard method of enabling the light in SpectraSuite. There is a method of setting the six channels in SpectraSuite, but you must control the light source on the Jaz unit itself, and not utilize the Strobe/Lamp Enable option in the wizard or in SpectraSuite.
Turn on the lamp on the Jaz Unit. To do this, turn the power on the Jaz, then select the X button to access the Jaz Menu.
Select the Check button from the options on the right side of the jaz after you have highlighted Light Source.
You will then see the options for the installed light sources in your particular Jaz Unit.
Select the selection symbol that is indicated beside the light source you want to work with.
This takes you to the Menu that is specific to your installed light source. You will see that this gives you the option to turn the light source on, control the intensity and enable/disable the shutter.
Select the option to turn the light source on. In the situation pictured below, you will select the triangle selection option.
Turn the light source on, then go to the SpectraSuite software to start the wizard of your choice (absorbance, transmission, etc).
Select File | New | (measurement wizard of your choice)
(Screen shots are of Absorbance measurements)
Select the first channel (or any other channel that you may be wishing to start with) from your Jaz Unit for the first spectral source, then click NEXT.

With your reference in place, click Set Automatically to allow the software to adjust your integration time so that the amount of light hitting the detector is approximately 90% of the saturation value.
Click the store reference icon and click Next. Do not attempt to control the lamp using the Strobe/Lamp Enable activation box.
On the Jaz Unit, select the Shutter option so that you can control the light source with the shutter. Your screen should look like the following picture. If you do not have these options showing on your screen, return to previous screens using the X button. This will return you to the main light source screen, you can again select the light source, and you will see the following options.
Select the option for Shutter (# symbol)
Close the shutter by selecting the # symbol (closed). Leave the Jaz unit on this screen, as you will be using this for the additional channels.
Click the Store Dark icon and click Finish (some wizards have additional steps before the wizard is complete, but these steps do not have any impact on the control of the light source).
You will now have a graph that is in the mode based on the wizard you are using. Remember that at this point, your light source shutter is still closed. You can open the shutter to view the graph.
To set up the next channel, you will follow the steps starting with step number 6 selecting the next channel you wish to set up for your particular experiment.
Operating the light source on the Jaz Unit directly avoids confusion that the software encounters by each channel trying to shutter the light individually.
